SOLAR PV

Solar Photovoltaic PV systems enable property owners to generate their electricity, reducing their reliance on electricity suppliers and decreasing their annual electricity expenses. These systems utilize photovoltaic panels to convert the sun's visible radiation spectrum into electrical energy, and they consist of two key components: solar PV panels and inverters.

How does it all work?

Solar PV panels can collect energy from both direct and indirect sunlight, making them effective even on cloudy or overcast days. The collected energy is in the form of direct current (DC). Inverters then convert this DC into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used for daily electricity consumption. If there is no immediate requirement for this, the generated electricity can also be diverted to a battery or to heat a hot water immersion with the addition of a hot water diverter.

The benefits of Solar Photovoltaic Systems:

  • Reduce CO2 emissions and the use of fossil fuels

  • Slash electricity bills

  • Charge battery systems with excess power

  • Heat water via immersion with a hot water diverter

  • Sell any surplus electricity back to Ireland's electricity grid

How much power will my PV system produce?

The amount of power that a solar system can produce in Ireland will depend on several factors, including the size and efficiency of the system, the location of the installation, and the weather conditions in the area.

Ireland is known for its mild, wet, and cloudy weather, which can affect the amount of sunlight that reaches solar panels. However, even in these conditions, solar panels can still generate electricity.

On average, a typical residential solar PV system in Ireland can generate between 3,000 and 4,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year. However, the exact amount of electricity generated will depend on factors such as the size of the system, the orientation and tilt of the solar panels, and the shading and weather conditions in the area.

It is important to note that the electricity generated by a solar system in Ireland may not be enough to meet all of a household's energy needs, and homeowners may still need to rely on grid electricity at times. However, by installing a solar system, homeowners can significantly reduce their reliance on fossil fuel-generated electricity and their carbon footprint, while also potentially saving money on their energy bills.
