SEAI Solar PV Grant Reduction: Cork Homeowners – Apply Before 2026 to Save €300!

If you’re thinking about installing solar panels in Cork, there’s never been a better time. The SEAI Solar PV Grant, which helps homeowners reduce the cost of going solar, is set to decrease after Christmas 2025.

At Cronin Solar Cork, we’re encouraging homeowners across Cork city and county , to apply now and secure the maximum €1,800 SEAI grant before it drops in the new year.

SEAI Grant Changes Coming January 2026

From January 1, 2026, the maximum SEAI Solar PV grant for homeowners will drop from €1,800 to €1,500.

In 2025, homeowners can receive up to €1,800 for a standard 4kWp solar PV system (around €450 per kWp). After January 1, 2026, the same system will qualify for a reduced €1,500 grant (around €375 per kWp).

The SEAI also plans to continue reducing the grant by €300 each year, with the scheme expected to end around 2029.

To qualify for the €1,800 grant, you must:

  1. Submit your completed SEAI application before December 31, 2025.

  2. Receive your SEAI Letter of Offer confirming approval.

  3. Complete your solar installation within 8 months of receiving your offer.

Why the SEAI Grant Is Reducing

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) expects the cost of solar panels to keep falling as technology improves and installation becomes more efficient.

Because of this, the SEAI is gradually reducing grant amounts each year. The goal is to encourage homeowners to act now while support levels are still high.

If you’re living in Cork, applying in 2025 means saving an extra €300 compared to waiting until the new year.
